Origin and Proposition

In 1993, Mr. Wanjiong Lin founded the Company with its brand proposed as “SELF”, meaning “self-reliance and self-improvement”. Persisting in the same faith of “building a top enterprise in optoelectronics”, the original twelve founders confidently and bravely embark on the voyage of “creating an influential brand in the global market”.

Since childhood, Mr. Lin has been extensively curious and adventurous about science. During his early age, he already established a reputation for science and technology. At that point, he embraces such belief that “during his entire lifetime, man has to seek some infinite and profound vision in order to interpret its value and significance” and begins to pursue the vision. His creed of “being confident, benign, responsible, and missionary” is also embedded into SELF’s product design and business philosophy, which will enable others to succeed and help ourselves to improve.

As a result, a centennial business brand, encompassing the greatest entrepreneurship and vision of the SELF employees, is also a glorious cause incessantly pursued by our SELF employees. Our Brand Guidelines completed in 2016 represents the “SELF Constitution” for our brand, depicts a rich and prosperous blueprint for SELF brand and serves as the highest level of code and basis for our business development. Over the course of pursuing our brand and vision, this “Constitution” will serve as a beacon at times of hesitation and divergence, and harbor our passion when faced with frustration.

This approach constantly surprises clients and enhances their value and recognition. “SELF”, as its name represents, is the most direct and powerful declaration of our pursuit. Any career-driven individual will accomplish some challenge eventually. Emerging among numerous unprepared or spoiled enterprises eliminated during waves of technological revolution and industrial transformation, our SELF employees always take the lead in the industry revolution with our “preemptive and superior practices”. Amid disruptive revolutions, we sweat blood and tears to become stronger and earn the recognition of the values SELF creates for clients during mutually-beneficial partnerships. The exertion and recognition enable us to survive from the same old tragedy where Chinese enterprises “generously” allow their credit to be taken by others.
